Weekend Book Reviews

And Death Goes To... by Laura Bradford is the third book in the Tobi Tobias Mystery series.  I had not read either of the previous books, but I have no problems following the characters in this one.  Tobi owns an ad agency and is nominated for the top prize in the St Louis Advertising Awards.  She is happy just to be nominated and even more so when the winner plummets to her death when the platform collapses.  A tragic accident is soon discovered to be an intentional murder.  Tobi and her grandfather set out to solve the mystery.  I enjoyed this book both for the characters and for the mystery.  There were several twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end.  I was most surprised that this cozy mystery was not focused on the police which was a nice change.

Healthy Meal Prep by Stephanie Tornatore and Adam Bannon offers 12 make ahead weekly meal plans.  Each meal plan is a mix of four recipes to feed one person for six days.  None of the meal plans are overly involved, and everything is laid out step by step.  Plenty of helpful tips are offered throughout the book.  This would be an excellent resource for a single person who does not want to spend a ton of time in the kitchen.  With a little prep in advance these meals are as simple as a frozen single serve dinner and much healthier.

disclosure:  I received these e-books through NetGalley but was not otherwise compensated for these reviews.  All opinions are my own!
